What’s the best season to do rock climbing?
I am a beginner of rock climbing. I’ve been trying out from time to time over a year an a half. I mostly climb on rocks in the forest and go sometimes indoors.
I’m not sure but I have a feeling like I climb better during winter or maybe rocks’ surface has something to do with weather?
It depends on where you live and the the altitude at which you are climbing. The number of daylight hours are also a factor for longer climbs.
Most of us climb indoor in the worst winter months depending on where you live. Very cold temps and rain / snow are never any fun when climbing.
Outdoor in the early spring and late fall usually closer to exit points and at lower elevations because temperatures and storms can be a real problem at higher elevations and further from civilization.
The middle of summer is the time to climb the high alpine routes, but be careful even then. It isn’t uncommon to get snow storms in July and August when you are above 12,000ft. More than once I’ve been snowed on and the next day been at 90+ degress back on the valley floor.
Good Luck
